new to the linux world , going on my 10 month and enjoying each day. was just wondering what your favorite open source program might be on the linux plate form.

for me its open office writer for creative writing

and also i love Gimp

Firefox is by far the one I use the most. Gnome Do is also an amazing time saver and convenience.

Hard to choose one as a favorite, but i'd have to go with one of those two, or GIMP.

GnuCash, excellent accounting software.
Pidgin, messaging client loaded with plugins
Thunderbird, best email client
Fspot, great photo managing tool
Acidrip, for DVD ripping

some of my windows friends use it on there windows machines !

My favorite ones are Opera and Flash. (That was a joke, neither are open source)

But Avant and Chromium are my favorite.

I'm trying but I haven't mastered the 25 commands you need to become fast in it. I don't have that much use for editing text files, I guess, but when I do I always use vim.

Today it happens to be Nautilus. I've just discovered that the Nautilus Send To function now includes this awesome piece of back-upification...

Haha. The open source version of that isn't great. The closed source version, however..
Isn't as good as VMware :P
