I've been following the thread about Haiku OS. I've gathered that it is based on BeOS which is said to have been a very advanced OS for its time. I've also heard that there was another OS, IBM's OS/2, which was also considered to be very advanced for its time. So what happened to it ? Are there any projects on reviving it?

There is eComStation (http://www.ecomstation.com/) the successor that has continued where from IBM left; however if Microsoft mortally wounded OS/2, GNU / Linux has given it the coup de grāce.
