Okay, so I burned Ubuntu 9.04 to a disk, inserted it, and then booted the computer. Then I realized that I needed to set my BIOS settings to "Boot From Disk" instead of "Boot From Hard Drive".

"Okay," I said, "it's Google time." After I figured out how to do this, I went into the setup utility, but couldn't figure it out.

"Blast!" I exclaimed, "Now I'll never be able to install Ubuntu!"

I can't install from Windows because I can't actually get in to Windows--it's an activation code thing, ridiculousness.

And I can't find the section in the setup utility on where to change the boot settings.

My computer is an Inspiron 4150.

Help is much appreciated! I really wanted to get this fixed today.

look for something in the bios like boot device click on it and change first device from hdd to cd drive.
If you want your windows working can you not reinstall the factory setup from the partition on your hard drive.

You can also try F8 at boot for a second menu and select from there

Found the boot order, but I can't edit it. It's in the order of "diskette drive-internal hdd-cd/dvd/cd-rw".

"But wait!" said Rogercorman, "I figured it out!"

Then, he thanked the people for their help and went to attempt to install Ubuntu.
