Basically, I need to help troubleshoot systems remotely and am looking for a live distro that one can boot entirely from CDROM that contains the following:

#1 Desktop (Gnome, xfce or whatever)
#2 VNC so that the user booting into this can simply switch on VNC and allow me access
#3 Gparted
#4 Partimage

So for I found Ubuntu 9.04 which has #1,#2, and #3, but not #4. You'd be surprised how tough this one is to find in google

i'm not sure how, but i hear you can make your own cd from a installed unbuntu with your programs with remastersys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remastersys)

dont ask me for more detail, as i dont know more.

Hi,

as far as I remember you can download an .iso and adjust the installation via the Ubuntu CD customization kit (It allows you even to make a 'copy' of your existing work environment). you should find it in synaptic. afterwards you just burn it or save the data on a usb-stick. that should be it.

Hope that helps,

M.

here is the link to the howto:

Thanks for the replies but I was hoping for a distro that is out there with these capabilities... I don't want to add #4 that bad enough to build my own :)
