I'm asking all you wonderful penguins for links to resources for introducing Linux to high school and post high school youth at an alternative school program.

As a part of an overall curriculum of computer education I'm looking for ways to make Linux as vital a part of their learning experience as Windows.

If any of you are already doing something similar I'd be interested in your links, lesson plans or other resources. Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to teach them the use of Linux, or are you wanting to use Linux as a tool in education?

This sounds great - in schools now days, they seem to teach applications and OS's, not knowledge on how to use them and then apply that knowledge.

I'd like to both teach them about Linux, and of course use it as tool.

There are a couple of documents here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Training?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=student.pdf) that may be of interest to you.

may i infer that some of these folks are youthful rebels?

i suggest taking a "Free Software" approach, and not an "Open Source" one.
