python and ocr

Hey how's it going all? I'd like to know if there's a python 2.6 (or later) ocr module that'll work on ubuntu 9.04? I've looked at pytesser but they last tested it on python 2.4 on win xp and no development work has been done since 2007. Thanks for the help either way.

PyTesser works for me on 9.04 using Python 2.6
