Thunderbird Calendars Nightmare in Windows or Ubuntu

First off I would like to congratulate the Mozzila boys for all their free software, specially Firefox "rules". But, for the past year I have been trying to run a stable email and calendar sharing solution with Thunderbird. My requirements are not complicated:

1. Windows machines running Outlook or Thunderbird

2. Ubuntu machines running Thunderbird

3. Shared Ical calendars, network, http Google or http(s) groupdav

Do a search on sharing your thunderbird profile between windows and ubuntu and you should be able to get what you are after, if I understood you right.

I presume you didn't mean there is any instability of thunderbird just because you are using the lightning add-on calendar; I certainly use it without any problems other than a slightly slow startup, but my computer is 4 years old now so will never be Formula 1 speed.

Would like to read more about that solution. To be honest I have tryed them all. Please provide a link or a how to.

As I told I have been testing this for more than one year, so I googled plenty and just found people with the same problem description, even in thunderbird website.

Please let us know what type of calendar sharing solution you are using? network shared? http?

Also specify thunderbird and lightning version.

I have not personally done this as I've all but given up on windows now, and neither do I use an online calendar eg google, but several people seem to be able to share windows and ubuntu profiles, so I see no reason why that should stop an online calendar being used, or a shared Ical calendar.

OK, sorry but I misunderstood your problem. Can't help, I'm afraid.

Some of these might be worth looking at then. However, most offer more than a calendar and you may want to trim out those parts.
