program for attaching large number of files

Hi folks,

I'll preface by saying that I'm an Ubuntu and programming newbie.

I'd really like to get into Ubuntu hacking. And I think I've found a problem that would require the application of a program, though I'm almost certain that someone has written it already. In any case, it seems that it would help me to get under the hood a bit.

The problem is that I want to attach roughly twenty photos to an email that I want to send from my gmail account. I'd like to automate this task. Any thoughts?

Can't you just put the image files in a tar.bz2, or a .zip (depending on who you're sending it to)? It's only a matter of a few clicks.
