Is there a FOSS project out there like dictd that uses LMF (Lexical Markup Framework: ISO-24613:2008) so it can be parsed for specific info rather than the plain text block format? I realise LMF is typically used for AI, but I think it would be really useful for developing a grammar checker / document language analysis tools.
The grammar tools for OpenOffice are really terrible so I haven't even bothered to look at how it works.
