I just received a HTC Tattoo this afternoon - a "budget" android phone with the same HTC Sense UI as the Hero.

Its going straight back to Vodafone. Very unimpressed. If you're thinking of going with the Tattoo - don't. Get the Hero instead.

HTC Hero seems impressive, but it's way too expensive.

Fortunately here in the UK, we get great deals on Pay Monthly contracts, so the price isn't an issue (On a £30 p/m contract I can get the Hero free)

You don't get anything free on a pay monthly - you are paying for it in the £30 a month. No phone company gives handsets away for free.

Well obviously thats the case, but I'm a heavy phone user, and usually use all the minutes they give me and quite a lot of the inclusive texts, so I consider myself getting the phone for "free" because I'd use the contracts anyway.
