I recently used the lolflag emoticon and I realized something about why its been bugging me since I joined Ubuntu Forums. The smiley has Goku's hair.

This has probably been discussed before but what is the reason for this? Is this a smiley that became popular somewhere online and has become mainstream, or are the people who created this forum dragon ball fans?

Whoever drew the thing most likely was thinking of DBZ- maybe it originated from a custom smiley set on a DBZ forum, as it looks like it's based on another smiley.

While a LOL! Goku (That's not even a flag, btw) seems out of place at first glance, it's not as bad as say... smileys firing off Unreal Tournament weapons in non gaming forums.
