I know that asking what is your favorite game is like asking who is your favorite kid.. but what ones do you guys like. i like the first person shooters, does anyone have a few favorites that they would like to share with everyone, links and install packages would be cool. id like to see what this community is playing and maybe install some new FREE games for myself

My fav is Urban Terror. It's a first person shooter along the lines of Counter Strike.

I discovered this recently and it's really addictive:

Savage 2 (http://savage2.com/en/main.php) (free), SuperTuxKart (free, in repos), World of Goo (http://www.worldofgoo.com/) (normally $20, but there's a "pay what you think it's worth" going on until October 19, 2009). For FPS, Urban Terror is good, and you also might want to look at the Penumbra (http://www.penumbragame.com/http://www.penumbragame.com/) series ($20 for all three games). I played the Overture demo and the atmosphere is incredible; reminded me of Bioshock.

My all time favorite game, rather series of games, would have to be the Wing Commander Series. I don't play them any more though, only game I play on Linux is The Battle for Wesnoth.

Over the summer I learned about and torrented a 1998 bungie RTS called Myth II. The game has amazing graphics for its time, and with the user-created patch 1..7 (allowing online play through a site called MariusNet) I found it very fun. The game is available for Linux, though the torrent I got I did for Windows and use Wine. It is a rather gory but immensely fun game with a well-plotted single-player campaign and an extremely-well designed multiplayer (MariusNet, the only working server for the game, only has about 3 running games and 40 players in the server lobbys at any time.) go to thetain.totalcodex.net for the 1..7 patch, and mariusnet.com to get a multiplayer account. As for the game, you'll have to buy it (it may be 11 years old, but is still 50 bucks for Myth: The Total Codex (the first two games plus bonus features)) or torrent it, like I did. See you server-side!
PS my avatar is an artist's rendition of the dwarf in-game, who literally runs around laying satchel charges and throwing molotov cocktails!

Savage 2 is also an amazing game, look into it; you can play it like WoW (3rd person MMO style) or choose to be your teams commander and play as though the game is an RTS. The game itself is an RTS, but there are only 3 bots on each team, and they have limited combat capabilities, and they are primarily for helping to build your structures. It is available for free for mac, pc and linux.

Played call of duty, half life 2, WOW and Neverwinter nights, all of them are good, but my favorite game is - bubble shooter (http://www.bubblygames.com/playgame/1/bubble-shooter.html) , it's without a doubt the most addicting game ever! :o
