I've tried with both the graphical and text installers. In the CD boot menu, I select to install, and then get a black screen (graphical) or a flashing cursor (text). Removing "quiet" from the boot line reveals that the process is hanging at "Write protecting the kernel read-only data: 1532k". Ideas?

Thanks,

dan

I had this problem too, twice, when installing beside Windows. I used the GUI installer, though. I was stuck at like 71%.

Not sure if you are having a similar problem, but I was able to make it pick up by removing power to the machine. It checks the install the next time it starts up, so if it was busy writing something, you are not in any trouble.

Again, that was just one experience, someone who has used the OS for more than three days :( may be of more help.
