system freezes

Can a overheated video card cause system to freeze??? with firefox or cause x server or panel to freeze. the video card was burning to the touch the fan was not working. I had it replaced still on warranty, and they gave me a new nvidia 9500gt 1GB
the old one was an 8500gt 512MB!!!! :-) so i am hopeful that it will all be fine. So far no freezes or firefox shutdowns when i use HULU or Utube

I've had weird lockups with an overheating video card, so I suspect you should be fine now. In my case Guild Wars would randomly lock up the system, but nothing else caused a problem.

I ended up getting a new card and adding 2 fans to my case. Overkill? maybe, but no problems so far :D
