View Full Version : [ubuntu] Big problems getting logged in

October 15th, 2009, 05:43 AM
I do not understand this, for the last 3 times i start ubuntu, and gets to log in, the letters i type are not letters i can read. They are magnified letters of some kind. I must not have something set correct, but i cannot get logged back in. I keep getting incorrect user name and password, must be typed in correct case. I have already reinstalled ubuntu 3 times in order to get back, but when i get back, i don't know what to look for or change. I hope the program lets me do it again, for i am in ubuntu discussion now from my windows system. would appreciate some help.

Try selecting a different keyboard when you install.

I did another complete install of ubuntu, i did not notice a choice of keyboard. Did i miss it? When this last install finished, rebooted, and got to log in page, it done the same thing. Is there a place to make this change, if i cannot log to ubuntu. I have another keyboard from an older computer, in the closet, and will try that today also. thanks, Jimmy

I did get an older keyboard, and was able to connect to ubuntu. I still have the problem, of when i type, you cannot read the words. What do i need to change something to, in order for me to see what i am typeing?

you might erase the partition and/or drive that you are working with

you're probably reinstalling directly "over" the preceeding installation and certain data is being reused in your reinstall

Parted Magic LiveCD has the erase function for both partitions and disks
