I've been using ubuntu for a few years now, and I decided early this morning to do a clean install with xubuntu, and using the installer to wipe the whole drive (i.e. no other operating systems present).
The usual amount of time that it's taken to install a ubuntu distribution is typically about a half hour.
The cd drive has been running constantly for 5 hours or so while attempting to install xubuntu and I hear the pc (pentium 4) clicking away.
I checked the md5 sum and the integrity of the cd before trying to install.
I see the desktop with the install icon as if I were running it as a live cd, but I have no control over what's going on...
Should I just force the pc to turn off and try again?
