Good Morning,

Just heard that ChromeOS is going to be based on Debian.

Is it possible to make Ubuntu like ChromeOS? Can i make chromium as my desktop background and a tab as desktop?

Thanks.

It probably will when people know what it will look like / behave. No one knows anything about it now.

There's a distro that's meant to look like it. But I can't remember what it's called.

Here's a few themes

Well just because its debian based doesnt mean it will use the debian repo's.
It might take the ubuntu route.

That's not a full os. It's the browser. See here - http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-linux-chromeos/28834/

It's not for sure that it's going to be built upon debian, it seems, but the it's package they've decided to store that in.

There is really no authoritative source here google os might look like this but since intel are involved will probably be based on moblin. Most likly google will have a simple desktop environment as it is designed to be used on notebooks. We won't get a release until google are near to an alpha release.

My guess it will probably end up using apt and Synaptic as the package manager. It works well for both Debian and RPM based distros.

Synaptic is the best piece of system software i have seen, even Windows should have it.:P

Considering that the only sliver of chrome os available for preview is a beta of the browser, Exactly how is anyone supposed to tell you if ubuntu can be made 'like' chrome ?

Sorry,

Let me be more precise.

I want to use Chrome/Chromium browser as my desktop, file manager, etc and its tab as desktop.

I hope i am more clear now.

Gotcha! :P. But don't think the beta can handle your needs yet.
