How to install wine?

Applications->Accessories->Terminal

sudo apt-get install wine

Go to System > Admin > Synaptic Package Manager, search for "wine", tick it for installation, and hit "apply".

What are you intending to use Wine for? There may be a native Linux application we can direct you to that does the same job without needing Wine at all.

Before you use Wine, it would be worth your trouble to go to the CodeWeavers Application Compatibility site (like below) to check out the apps you want to run. While some stuff works great in Wine, other stuff does not, and some stuff doesn't work at all.
