View Full Version : [ubuntu] No operating system how to

I need to know how to load ubuntu on my computer... it has no operating system.... do i just pop in the cd and it will start??? its downloading now. or do I need a boot disk

yes you do just plop it into the CD drive and start up your computer, of course after burning the ISO to a CD. it is also a good idea to adjust the boot order in you BIOS. make sure it boots from your CD drive before your Hard Drive

Some more tips:

-Burn the CD as slow as possible to minimize burning errors
-When done, 'check CD for defects' which is one of the options presented.
-Try a live session (try ubuntu without changes) to see how your system reacts/plays well with ubuntu ... i.e. wifi, sound, graphics, keyboard, F keys, etc.
