With the last two releases, I have tried to use Unetbootin to install The newest version. However, the installer tells me that it needs to unmount the cd-rom drive to continue. This computer doesn't have a cdrom drive, so the installation fails.

I am installing from sda4 onto sda1 if that's important, the laptop only has one hard drive. It does not have a bios option to allow me to boot from USB.

The way that I got around this last time was to wait for the release and use the netboot option from within Unetbootin. However, this is not currently available for Karmic, so I downloaded the .iso and used it, which gave me the problems above.

Is there any way to get Unetbootin to work, or is there any other way for me to install 9.10?

It could be you don't have enough RAM to load the whole .iso file. The 9.10 netinstall option is available now.
