View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can't install on an IBM xServe chassis with ServeRaid 6i

If I use the stock Debian 5 installer, I can install Debian just fine on an IBM xServe/ServeRaid 6i box. But I can't get any version of Ubuntu installed on that box. I don't know exactly what the differences are between the installers, but it seems like the Ubuntu installer is missing some drivers or something that are required to recognize that box. I've tried CD installs of various sorts. I even created a USB version, but nothing I do causes the installer program to start.

Is there a way to install Ubuntu on a box that already has, say, Debian on it? Is there a cross-grade program or something that I can run? What about running the CD from a loop drive (copy the ISO over and mount it that way)?

Or am I just screwed and will have to run stock Debian on that box? I'd like to keep all my boxes using the same distro, if at all possible.
