For some time now I've been using Scroogle.org (http://scroogle.org/) instead of Google. Well, actually I use the SSL-protected page, https://ssl.scroogle.org/. i've got it as my home page in Firefox. And it has served me well.
But recently, some Scroogle searches have gone very, very slowly. Sometimes the search doesn't even get completed: the status bar says "Connecting to ssl.scroogle.org... Connected to ssl.scroogle.org..." and it just hangs there. (Not all searches are so slow. But a noticeable percentage have slowed down noticeably.) Whereas www.google.co.uk (http://www.google.co.uk) is as nippy as ever.
So I want to know if my fellow Scroogle-users have experienced this problem? And I'd also like to discuss why this is happening. I wonder if Google are maybe blocking Scroogle's servers, in a misguided attempt to cripple its critics. But Scroogle's traffic graphs (http://www.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/tgraph.htm) don't show any recent drop in searches. So if no one else is having this problem, why is Scroogle grinding to a halt just for me?
