Does anyone know a CPU/memory gadget like like in Windows vista? I use a screenlet but it's not as nice as the one in vista. The windows one has a smooth motion whereas the screenlet just jumps from one place to another.

you can also try Cairo-Dock, it has a System-Monitor applet that can be placed on the desktop, and has the exact same gauge.

Most likely you can simply change the update interval of the Screenlet to get smoother result.

The default interval is quite long to avoid the problem Vista's widget has, constant polling of CPU usage and widget updates result in high CPU usage.. It doesn't make much sense to have a CPU monitor widget which itself results in 10–30% extra CPU load. :D

That's true but I'd like it to move smoothly from one value to another instead of jumping. The screenlet can't do that.

I use Cairo-Dock but I don't like that particular applet. The gauges are very far apart and the labels are not where I'd like them.

ah, this is only in the latest version of Cairo-Dock (2.1.1-beta)
some new gauges have been added.
