I reinstalled ubuntu since I screwed up the whole sys. Since the DVD wasn't in good condition I used low resolution failsafe mode while installing. But now that the installation is over my system is stuck in that mode.
The displayconfig-gtk applet allows me to select my monitor LG 700S. but the resolution that I used to have (1152x863) is not available. Also using auto detect gives a 'plug and play' which has only 640x480.
By fiddling with /etc/X11/ files I deleted 'allow-failsafe' line in a file and also deleted a .conf file which had a name like failsafe. Now i have a screen resolution of 1280x1024. still no option for 1152.
any pointers as to how to get ubuntu to auto detect Lg 700S?
