I'm a new potential Ubuntu user. I installed Jaunty with no problem (with sound) BUT after the first restart I had no sound (and no indication that the system knew anything of my "Logitech USB speakers". There seems to be more than a little info available concerning no sound on Jaunty but after having read and tried most of it, I find myself still without sound. Since the sound disappeared AFTER the first restart, I figured something must be getting changed when it booted up for the 2nd time. I figured out how to use the original kernel when booting and sure enough - sound working again. My Logitech USB speakers also showed up again as a choice when you use System/Preferences/Sound. Thinking I had solved the problem I restarted again (using the original kernel). NO SOUND AGAIN! The Logitech USB speakers still showed up as a choice BUT now had a "not connected" addition to their entry.
Can anyone give me a hint of what is going on and what I need to do next? Thanks
