i was browsing through the ubuntu store the other day and came accross this

whats this for?
we can get all of this through ubuntu-restricted-extras right?

p.s. does anyone know where i can get the mpeg ACC libraries?
having a little problem with streaming

It's for those living in a country where software patents apply (mainly USA), to provide them with a legal way of acquiring those codecs.

The rest of us can freely use the codecs available from Ubuntu's Universe/Multiverse and Medibuntu repositories. Not that it's likely to get sued for using those unlicensed codecs even in the USA, at least on personal use. But OEM's and corporate sers & such will definitely need a way to get those codecs without any legal issues.
