It's not time yet. Wait. When it's a month before 10.04, then the naming begins.

And would have gotten Mark into even more trouble with this sexism thing.

I don't follow Ubuntu's news in general, or statements by MS, so this was the last thing that came into my mind.

Plus, I really don't know what this whole sexism thing is anyway... all I know is that MS gave some speech (or something) which was viewed as a sexist statement, that's all.

Beside the name that people come-up as a joke, if you have a good code-name for a Ubuntu release, you can add it to the DevelopmentCodeNames (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DevelopmentCodeNames) page.

It is there where Canonical or Mark Shuttleworth choses the name from.

Have a look at

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DevelopmentCodeNames

Well, we have a jackalope, which is a mythical creature, how about....

Marvelous Martian

Then all we will need is an illudium Q-36 explosive space modulator, and then we will be all set to destroy Venus (it blocks my view of Mercury).

I sort of based Mischievous Magpie (my pick from the first page) after that. Mischievous as it gets into new and interesting territory. Magpie for an affinity for shiny things.

Two can play at that game.
Fun Fact: The European Magpie is the only non-mammal known to be able to recognise itself in a Mirror test.
