64 bit on 32 bit system

Will 64 bit version supposed to run on a 32 bit version? I have a 32 bit celeron 2.53 and by mistake I put the 64 bit version in and live cd worked fine.??????????

Are you sure that processor isn't 64 bit? A quick search on Google turned up these specs from Newegg showing 64 bit support.

This system is 7 years old. Had motherboard replaced 3years ago. Nice to learn something new.
