Slayer can beat that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUDWLp1yIWw). Oh and Slayer happens to have balls, unlike most music Iron Maiden included.

Singing about controversial topics does not give you balls

How can singing about anything account for the band "having balls"?

It's just lyrics.

If they went to the white house, and started playing there, saying "**** the president! The president sucks!", then they have balls, but not as a band, rather, as people.

Thwere's a lot of good metal out there, (also a lot of pure shite) but you can't always compare songs because there are radically different styles. Chalk and cheese, etc.

Gojira is good (about the only decent French metal band), and so are Iron Maiden and Slayer, but you can't compare them, theyre too different.

Testament is one of my personal faves, but Iron Maiden will always take the cake for me.

I know you arent talking about this song: Drugstore feat. Thom Yorke - El President (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7Qyz3VnrZI)

Btw I think I remember a song that almost all metalheads can agree is one of the best songs ever. I normally dont like Carcass fans, but the riffs aren't made of Carcass's fans.
Carcass - Heartwork (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7lP30tSZF0)

Ah, a classic, Heartwork.

I love that whole album in general.

No Love Lost is my favourite track from that album.

I'm not really into metal anymore these days, but spent several years of my life as a metalhead, listening mostly to black and death metal, grindcore, goregrind, and such geners.

In "my later years as a metalhead" (lol) I turned more to Doom metal, and its subgenres, stoner doom, sludge doom, drone doom, and funeral doom.

Nowdays I listen mostly to electronic music.

Sounds like a reverse of me. The older I get the more extreme music I listen to. It has been 15 years since I listened to eletronic music. And about 5 since I was listening to funeral doom metal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd4Ji3roRJI).

Btw just to bring some black metal to this thread, I suggest some guitar centric songs like something by windir (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HieQO1j-J8)

Slayer: great band, overrated.

Megadeth: better than Metallica.

Gojira: pretty awesome.

I was the same. I used to listen to a lot of black, thrash, oldschool death metal, some doom, etc. It's kind of lost the appeal. These days I'm more into post-rock, shoegazing, noise rock, and some other sort of popish music (like Bjork).

The last death metal band I was listening to a lot was Cephalic Carnage. I'll listen to metal occasionally, but not regularly.

Ha, I've listened to Cephalic Carnage before.

I still do have some metal on my machine, Dornenreich, Paradise Lost, Lymphatic Phlegm, Macabre, and one of my favourite grindcore bands of all time, Nasum.

I listen to some of them occasionally. Sometimes I just feel like metal.

The Legacy is one of the best metal albums recorded, imo. the rest from them aren't so good though.

That's not their most flattering song, you should check out the album 'Ritual Fires of Abandonment'. One of the best albums of 2007.

Attitude is attitude. It's hard to get amped up for a heavy bench press or a mosh pit when A Simple Plan is whining "you don't know what it's like to be me!"

Now, hearing Chris Barnes howl "I feel like killing you," that turns my balls from small grapes into slightly less small grapes.
