After a distribution upgrade from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04, I began getting a black screen with a white mouse pointer, after logging in. No matter how long I wait, that is all I see.
Nothing happens no matter how much I wait.Need help I don't want to reinstall.
Previously I had compiz installed.After I login my desktop is shown for a few seconds after which slowly black screen appears but mouse pointer is shown.
I have Intel 945GM
