I'm new to Linux (actually do have a Red Hat version running on my work computer though). I want to load the kbuntu version on my personal desktop at home which currently has Vista Home Premium running. I downloaded the 700MB zip file, unzipped it, and I dont' see any sort of setup function. I did find wubi and tried to run it, but I almost immediately get a message: "Cannot download the metalink and therefore the ISO". So, wondering what the 700MB download actually is then? I have seen this same message posted several times on this forum, but I don't see where it has actually been answered (maybe I'm just missing it). Can I install with what I have... that being the 700MB download? How? I do have a CD/DVD drive and also many thumb drives, which I've seen mentioned, but I don't know what to do with it... what file(s) I need to put on it, etc.

Thanks for any thoughts.

What is the name of the file you have (the unzipped filename)?

Please look through the installation instructions.

For one, the file you downloaded is an iso image and not a zip, and you didn't have to extract it.
