what you should really ask is why the hell you are wasting time reading the rubbish they post?
There are better places to find random stuff on the intenet (digg, etc)
There are better places to talk to random people (here, other forums, etc)
There are better places to find porn (no links allowed)

Also debian != ubuntu (available on more archs, more tech based release cycle not marketing, many other pros)
And gentoo has many strengths, e.g integration of software without the overheads you get when using pre-compiled programs and a sound base for experiments for hardened linux, ICC compiled linux, etc)

Yeah right it would take weeks for 4chan to mobilise, 99% of their users are idiots, of the other 1% one of them actually needs to get up and give the rest a link to DDoS.

Seriously stop giving them so much credit, they don't really hate more than any random site (read some of the posts on tech sites and you get a lot more hate), what they do is troll a fair bit. It's only because they do nothing useful it looks like they are "the internet troll machine", if you go to linuxhater or sometrollwebsite.com they are teh real internet troll machines.

Now...you can enable the testing repos, but as default, Gentoo is very stable.

Many people dont like Ubuntu for more valid reasons than why they dont like certain kind of music or cannot do their math homework. The biggest problem people have with Ubuntu is because it looks like a newbie friendly distro, everyone that uses it are beginners that have no idea what they are doing and the Ubuntu developers aren't contributing to important parts of the GNU/Linux... like the kernel. These are just random reasons I've heard which none are true. I mean... Ubuntu isn't the most newbie friendly distro there is. They contribute to the kernel... but sadly beginners do tend to lean towards ubuntu rather than Linux Mint or some other distros that might suit them better.
