Can anyone recommend a good image browser?

I really want one that lets me view with a "filmstrip" (like in F-Spot but without being able to "edit".

I also want to be able to see & choose some metadata at a glance (e.g., 'date picture taken').

Does F Spot do all this or would you recommend something else?

Picasa or digiKam... both superb, installation of picasa 3.5 requires a little manipulation and is not open Source. digiKam is just outstanding!
