I've tried some new software from PPAs that upgraded some standard ubuntu packages. Now I've removed the PPA from my sources and would like to restore the old versions of the packages ie downgrade.

What's the best way to do this?
Much appreciated,
Z.

You can do this through synaptic. Select the packages is question and up at the top under "package" choose force version. Finally, choose the original version. Let us know if that gets it done. ;)

Thanks spcwingo, that did the trick. I didn't know about the force- version feature.

Cheers,
Z.
