So I switched to VT-1 using Ctrl+Alt+F1 and the font size is enormous. The same thing happens on VT-1 through VT-6 with VT-7 being the GUI.
Below is my video card (I know, it sucks)
lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04. I have used later versions and I get the same issue.
