Hey All,

I am working on a support site for some clients, and thought it would be a good idea to link to a guide to Unix (A lot of my clients are scientists needing to learn basics to the command line).

Can any of you recommend a good (and free) online resource for learning/referencing the Unix command line? I've searched the web already, but was wondering if any of you had input on particular ones that are out there.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know of a great doc for new folks.

The O'Reilly Unix in a Nutshell is a great reference.

Stevens Advanced Unix Programming + K & R C Programming is the ultimate reference for anyone planning on getting intimately acquainted with unix.

The Design and Implementation of the 4.4 BSD Operating System isn't bad for structure.

The FreeBSD handbook has a "UNIX Basics" (http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/basics.html) chapter that can make for a good start.

The OP never talked about a Bash/Linux-specific guide. Lots of things on linuxcomand cannot be transposed to other shells/OSes.
