I 'm search for a well known beginners guide to Java for quick learners with a few knowledge on OO that is short and sweet and doesn't beat by the bush. So nothing with 400 pages...

Can you put down what the name/author of the book is and maybe why you were looking for or decided on this book?
That may be helpful for somebody who has a similar question.

It seems like I contradicted myself cause this book is over 700 pages but what this book has that is different from other are:
1. It's easy to read (thus read at x2 speed)
2. Useful and unuseful/irrelevant information is sorted in a way you can easily skip it and skim on the relevant bits.
