View Full Version : [SOLVED] Prevent package from being upgraded - how?

October 6th, 2009, 04:00 PM
I am running a version of a package that I do not want to be upgraded. I'm running Jaunty amd64 on a desktop computer. The upgrade manager keeps asking me to upgrade the package and I keep declining. Not only is this a hassle, I am concerned that one day I will forget to uncheck the suggested upgrade (and that will screw up my system).

To avoid this problem, I would like to alter my installed package so that the upgrade tool thinks it is newer than anything in the repos. How would I do this?

Is there a better way? Any way to do it?

I know nothing about how to go about accomplishing my goal. Any tips are appreciated.

Synaptic --> lock package.
That's it. Easy.
