You may want to check your account as a precaution.

Well that explains why my old hotmail address suddenly starting spamming everyone I know a few days ago.

I wonder how they got hacked in the first place. I can be fairly sure that I wasn't phished, because I'm fairly vigilant about that sort of thing. Besides, I haven't used my hotmail address for anything other than logging into messenger for years.

The list can still be found from google's cache. Most of them can still be logged in. Why didn't hotmail suspend those accounts with leaked password?

Mine seems to be fine, although it's not my main email anymore...

Wow. Then every one should build his own mail server? But it would be even more insecure if lacking knowledge of how to manage the server...

I bet a sizable chunk of these clowns put their address/password into one of the many block-checking scam websites.

Info on how to search Google's cache can be found here (http://rentzsch.com/notes/googleCacheHacking).

This interactive tutorial (http://www.googleguide.com/) will teach you how to use many/most of Google's features. There are other guides to using Google out there on the internet. Googling for "how to use google" or "google tutorial" will help you find them.

Google is a wonderful tool. It's well worth spending a little time to learn how to use all its features.

Google has confirmed to BBC News that its e-mail system - Gmail - has been targeted as part of an "industry-wide phishing scheme".

The search giant said that it had taken immediate action to safeguard the affected accounts.

...

The phishing scam was originally thought to target just Hotmail users.
