If Ubuntu was not an Operating System, and not a philosophical concept, what do you think it would be?

*EDIT*

I'm sorry, I left my computer on, and my account logged in, and someone I know used my account to write what was here on this post. It wasn't me, the original user of the account, who wrote this. That person is just crazy with the Venus Project and keeps trying to promote it any way possible.

A philosophy concept:

Ubuntu is an ethic or humanist philosophy focusing on people's allegiances and relations with each other.

That, or the ultimate Linux game...

#-o I didn't know that... well, at least I was not very far away from the concept!

I wanted to preserve the authenticity of the verse while still keeping the text of the image barely readable, so please excuse the 800x720 resolution. Esther Mahlangu illiustrated in the book, Wisdom, edited by Andrew Zuckerman (2008).

The other four illustrations, one more w/text can be seen here (http://lobby.oz.netau.net/viewtopic.php?f=172&t=15) but that was the only mention of 'ubuntu' I recall.

That's actually painful to read.

I'm sorry. Let me try typing out the text to help make the reading easier.

'Today there is no respect. We are trying to teach children our customs. That is why I teach customs and respect; and I also teach embroidery and beadwork. Most parents don't stay with their children - they work in towns, and therefore they no longer teach them about ubuntu, culture, paintings and embroidery. That is why I gave myself this job of teaching these children. I teach them respect. They must respect themselves and their parents.

Students of painting must not be misled by people who say to quit because painting is useless. If you like it, then do it for your personal development.

When I am painting, everything is in my mind. I don't think anyone can tell me what to do. When I start painting, everything just comes. When I begin to do something, I know where to start and how to do it. We used to see our forefathers and grandmothers doing it, and then we learned from that and memorized it <sic>. Whatever we learned stayed in our minds forever. That is why I have a school to teach kids: so that these skills can continue.
I don't want these skills to die.'

To get started, and in my case, I really think Ubuntu would be a social ideology. In fact, I really think it would be "The Venus Project (http://www.thevenusproject.com/)" made real.

P.D. If you would like to know more about The Venus Project (http://www.thevenusproject.com/), you can read their article called "Resource Based Economy (http://www.thevenusproject.com/a-new-social-design/resource-based-economy)" or watch Zeitgeist Addendum (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7065205277695921912#) which basically summarizes everything about The Venus Project.

Didn't know the Venus Project even existed! *Ish now a supporter of it.*

It would be Windows, because then it would be a not-operating system :P
Sorry, it had to be said.

Ubuntu is like the sky, it is just there,

it brings our friends the clouds

who carry the rain
which, though troublesome at times

is what makes our life enjoyable.

Ubuntu, the sky

Now that I think of it... Ubuntu would be the ultimate car. Just say where you want to go, and it will take you there! XD
