I'm looking for an mp3 player that can natively use a samba share as it's source.
I've tried rythmbox, xmms, ammork, and banshee, and they all require a prior mount into system space.
I want the share mounted when the player is engaged, and I don't what to persistently cache the files locally.

anyone know of any players that understand samba natively?

Thanks!

you need a music server to where you can enter it from firefox and play

players will always need guidance by navigating threw the player or navigating to the source and selecting the player, this way you log on and play........

well, after some fits and starts, I got daap running, and am sharing my music collection to the lan over it. works suprisingly well, though I'm not sure it is actually noticing every track...

now if I can just find something like it for my video collection (which is spread across many drives.)
