View Full Version : No Colour - S-Video (Mythbuntu 9.10 Beta)

Hi. A couple of hours ago I installed Mythbuntu 9.10 Beta. I am stoked with how useful this seems to be for what I intend to do. However, I cannot get any colour, only black and white.

S-Video (connected through SCART to 16:9 Philips CRT TV)
Nvidia FX5500
Latest Nvidia driver from Hardware Drivers (173)
PAL chosen during Installation Setup
Mythbuntu 9.10 Beta

What is wrong? I know it can display colour since I got that working in TwinView (but nothing more) in Ubuntu 9.10 Beta. I did try to change "PAL" to other stuff in Setup later, but did not restart X after that. Is that the problem? Do I have to restart?

Long Shot - but on one of my TV's the s-video enabled scart socket can operate in two modes, s-video mode and 'normal' mode.

If trying to use composite (s-video) and the TV was using the other mode for that socket, the picture would be in black and white.
Toggle to the other mode and the colour would be recognised.

So it might be worth checking if it is a similar situation with your set-up.
Sorry, don't know your TV model personally so it would be a case of reading the manual.
Good luck.

I had the same problem with my S-Video -> SCART ended up making my own cable which solved the problem.

Do you see colour in the BIOS screen?
