I just finished reading a thread (http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/9qbjq/if_you_ever_find_yourself_following_a_car_on/) at reddit.com

It made me think that when I felt that I was being followed or tailed, it might not have been just my imagination, I might have been really followed by people who gets their pleasures by seeing how terrified people are of being tailed.

What are you experiences?

Does having a stalker (female) count? I would count that as being followed. If she hadn't been packing a .357 Magnum it might not have been so bad. Or if she hadn't spray-painted my cars... The list goes on.

I guess it can count.

BUt, a stalker is much more "darker" than just being tailed for "fun"!

But, then again we don't know the real reason why someone will tail us. Who knows if they are all stalkers? :p

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

That is true.

Nothing beyond coincidence and my own imagination since I finished high school, and some coincidences have been the most unexpected and memorable events, but the secret I learned back in high school was to never give anyone a reason to tail you, and then if they did, it really only makes them, look stupid, providing you don't pose off and display your good luck in the wrong ways.
Not every cloud has a silver lining, but some are like gold-plated if you have the right sort of luck.

Me and a few friends of mine tail people sometimes for the fun, just to see how long it takes before they realise. Most people never cop it. I mean, were pretty good at it by this stage, but most people go around with their eyes closed.

Then again, there was the ex-Marine who almost beat all our asses :D He must have been in his 50s lol :D Still managed to out fox us

Military, mostly those of us who where combat trained. Where trained to spot people following us and have a better attention to detail.

You shouldnt tail no one, for your own safety. You might run up on a snake in the bushes with a nasty bite.

This is an example of what you mean. All tailing-lovers should watch this video and learn to be careful.

Yes, one time I accidentally cut someone off on the interstate (i turned my head to look and everything), so embarrassed I gunned it, changed lanes several times to get out of the general vicinity of cars who witnessed it, but the guy I cut off followed me after about 2 miles and got right next to me so he could curse me out. I ignored him, but after about a 20 second cursing I was tired of it so I turned and looked at him so he could get off his f-bomb and he got in front on me. Afraid he would likely slam on his brakes so I would hit him, I waited until the last second and got off on the next exit.

Ya, thats a good point, luckily, this guy was quite nice, and understanding. We would never try to actually freak someone out, once someone catches on, we usually explain to them that were just following them for the fun, and to trying to get better at it. Most people are just relieved to know that they're not actually being stalked.

I know its not the nicest thing to do to someone, but its fun. It gives you rush, adrenaline like. Trying to predict their next move, and stay one and a half steps ahead.

I learned in my younger years to never tail the police, you can get into all sorts of trouble.

hey there are some funny comments like this:

This is a true story:
I have a gay male friend who left a bar one night and noticed another car leaving the parking lot at the same time.
My friend grew concerned because every time he turned a corner, the other car went the same way. The closer he got to his house the more freaked out he got. Finally he pulled into his driveway and the other car pulled in right behind him.
They both got out of their cars and turned to face each other ... then the other guy said, "Oh, ****, I followed the wrong guy home!"
They went in and had sex anyway. Gotta love gay men.

LoL

Many times, while a Marine overseas on Embassy Duty.

Find a Marine Embassy Guard doing something that you can blackmail him with -> blackmail him -> privilege escalation type stuff, start small and then blackmail him with that to get something bigger -> ???? -> profit

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clayton_J._Lonetree

the trained response when one suspects s/he is being followed is not to allow the follower to know that you know, and report it to allow the "do they know that i know that they know that i know??" game to commence, if desired or advantageous.
