Just did a fresh install on my Asus W3J laptop. Details:

CoreDuo (not core2duo so it's a 32-bit install) 2ghz
2gb RAM
ATI Radeon Mobility X1600 (w/256mb VRAM)
Hitachi 60GB 5400rpm hard disk
wired Logitech mouse

I chose ext4 for the file system and told it to use the entire disk. Everything seemed to be OK, but I got a warning that "my hard disk is failing." So I clicked on the warning icon and smartd was reporting tens of thousands of reallocated sectors. So, I re-installed 9.04 and smartd seems happy again.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a known bug?

Best,
