We`re really scraping the barrel now are we not?
I think this particular bloke probably stopped "applying" for jobs quite some time ago.

And it'll be heavily integrated with Goobuntu ONE Cloud Computing technology.. (apps such as Goobuntu Docs and such)

anyway, back on topic, i can't really see what Mark has to offer to Chrome OS besides maybe a really good forum.

Only one question comes to mind.

Why?

<and DON'T use 'why not' as an answer.>

"My other piece of advice, Copperfield," said Mr. Micawber, "you know. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery. The blossom is blighted, the leaf is withered, the god of day goes down upon the dreary scene, and - and in short you are for ever floored. As I am!"

With respect to yourself as well as me, I believe that our good Mr Shuttleworth probably goes through those same sleepleee nights worrying about the financial outcomes of of these sorts projects as we do, even if the percentages show different sums.

To what extent is Shuttleworth a contributor to Ubuntu? Aside from signing the checks and promoting the product, is he directly involved?

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. I've been shutdowm from my lifelong profession for over 12 years now and iof there's one last thing I wanna do before I die, it now has a name that I can relate to and that is Ubuntu.

let's make it simple.

google has already a working team.
they are not going to change a team leader

you should have posted this before the news of chrome os even came to be, before they put a team together.

He's part of the core development team and the Technical Board, as well as many other teams, and recently has been working closely with the User Experience and Design team. https://launchpad.net/~sabdfl may give you an idea.

He was one of the developers for Debian as well as Ubuntu.

He was one of the developers for Debian as well as Ubuntu.

Right; he was the first maintainer of Apache in Debian, no less.

Why would google even need or want him? They are not doing a "GNU/Linux distro.

i can just picture MS turning up for work at google with his laptop and being told what to work on by some snotty-nosed googler/half-wit on a wage of $60,000. lol.

meanwhile he could leave someone else in charge of his life's work and legacy at Canonical.

Chrome OS will be running on the Linux kernel, so it is Linux. It will also be open source. They just build a new windowing system on top.
