can I mix these on my board? gigabyte ep43-dsl3.
I currently have a single stick of 2gb ddr2 -800 (PC2-6400)
Can I add 2 1gb sticks of ddr2 - 800? (PC2-6400)

Reason I ask is I have 2 sticks of 512mb DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)
and with those two stick mixed with the other stick, the board will not boot. The board will boot with just the 2 sticks of 512mb or with just the one stick of ddr2-800.

So if the memory is the same speed, just different capacities, will it work?

Check you motherboard documentation for supported memory slot configs. It may need paired DIMMs, although some boards will run fine with only 3/4 DIMM slots filled

PS-DDR2 is cheap, why not just go to town and run 64bit?
