Hi to all.

I m new to this forum and new to the system of linux, I got this usb flash drive with the ubuntu to try it on and see if i like the system.

Well I got it to be reconice by the computer and boot from it.
when It boot this Is what i get.

Looking for boot sector bla bla bla : OK
GRUB

that is all and the computer stop there and dont do anything else. I try to type DIR, / or something and nothing happen. I think I should get a menu to start loading the system.

Does any one know what is happening? I need help to keep going to the next step and try out the ubuntu.

I have ATA board, 1.1 ghz, 512 mb ram and I run win xp on my main hard drive.

Thanks
Rey

From what you say it looks like the live USB is not properly made.

Do it yourself in windows:

since you are downloading the iso, it may be a better idea to burn a cd

Welcome aboard a whole new free world awaits!!

with this flash drive are you trying to run it "live" to try it out or are you installing it

If you booted from it to the desktop you should have an icon on the desktop that says install

or do you see :

[ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For
the first word, TAB lists possible command
completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible
completions of a device/filename. ]

grub>

if you see above that means your menu.lst does not list the OS's you have on the pc

this can be corrected a few different ways post back to confirm

I don't think this is pertinent. He wants to use a live-USB to try ubuntu, so no GRUB, or menu.lst untill he installs.

here goes another link to make an easy ubuntu live-USB:
