Yes, it would. But I doubt major sites would even consider it.

I really dont think we need a massive amount of sound options... MP3 won the fight guys, like 15 years ago, this is like trying to bring back laser disk or beta video tapes. One format won, deal with it. Besides I don't need my non-techy friends and family getting all confused on why the file they downloaded wont work on their iPod or on their car's stereo.

They'll do so as soon as they start hosting mp3s that aren't in 128 bitrate.

there would need to be a major innovation for people to start dropping mp3.
