Go back to windows? They ARE in Windows. You're the "noob" for not knowing that.

Hahahahahaa. I got something similar, but it replicated the look of 'my computer' in XP.

These types of fake malware warnings fool many people, especially not so computer-savvy people. I've lost count how many machines I've cleaned of this stuff.

Clean your desktop man! :o

Haha. I don't actually 'clean' it. Instead, I just click a button in the dock that hides all the icons. :P

Are you suggesting that "pile" isn't a form of organization? Hmm?

Hmm.... It could be, but that doesn't exactly abide by the definition of organized or tidy.

Organization is your friend, and Windows is your enemy.

Windows isn't my enemy at all. It's still my main OS, and I'm prefectly happy with it.

And, no, I have no organization. The icons on the left are the old stuff, and the icons on the right are the new stuff. When I run out of room on the right side, I drag-select a bunch of them, and drag them to the left.

I found that it's best to never delete anything, because I'll probably be looking for it in a month. But don't get me wrong. I keep the machine running very nicely for a Pentium 4. Boots in 30 seconds to desktop.

Why not use folders?

clonne4crw

Because I have no real reason to organize all that crap. I just unhide the icons when I need to get to something on the desktop like something that I just downloaded.

But how often after that will I need it? Maybe once or twice, if its a Rockbox build, or installer or someting. Maybe not.

Folders don't work for me. Then I end up trying to remember what went where, when if I had everything right where I could see it, I could just go right to it.

But someone will ask: 'But you can't see everything, cuz theres f__king icons EVERYWHERE!'

Well, select one icon at random, and start typing the filename. Try it. It works in Linux, Windows, etc. It will do a on-the-fly search. Very fast and effective.

See? In short, the "pile system" is a form of organization.

Sheesh!

It's not saying "YOU CURRENT VERSION OF WINDOWS WHICH IS: _______" is infected, the scam is coming from over Skype, meaning the writer has no idea what version of windows you use. The scam tries to say anyone which these versions are vulnerable. Those just so happen to be the most commonly used Windows versions.

Its like if I said theres a bug on Ubuntu versions 7.0 to 9.7 which leaves you open for spyware.

If you are a scareware writer and are trying to convince users that their computer is infected, why would you list multiple versions of Windows?

So you could easily target other users with other versions of Windows.

Remember, they're targeting the people who pretty much no nothing about their computer, other then to point and click.

If they read something like, "Windows Vista is infected" and they know they have Vista, they're most likely to believe it.

The rest of the OS's mentioned, well... they would probably think it's something beyond their knowledge.

I can go on you know.

It's never been happier. Boots to desktop in 30 seconds, launches FF 3.0.14 in 10. No spyware at all. All my crap there.
