JDK and JRE installation

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get jdk or jre installed on my laptop. I tried downloading the stuff and after some time the process was taking too long. I restarted the system and try a fresh download and installation but all i got was this error message;

"E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem".

Can someone please help me out? I really need to move further. Thanks.

do just what it says. open a terminal (accessories>terminal) and enter sudo dpkg --configure -a
then your password, which will not appear on the screen
